Mary Green Beckman collection
Scope and Contents
The collection consists of clippings, invoices, and correspondence between Carlos Salzedo and Mary Green concerning Salzedo’s Harp Colony in Camden, Maine and include topics such as performances and teaching. There are also references to Elyse Yockey (Harp '52), a former student of Green’s, who attended the Camden Harp Colony in the summer of 1949 before being accepted to Curtis by Salzedo in 1950.

Biographical / Historical
Mary Green Beckman (1923-2010), who earned her Bachelor of Music degree at Oberlin Conservatory of Music and her Master of Music degree from Cleveland Institute of Music, was a professor of harp and music at the University of Northern Iowa from 1947 to 1990. The correspondence between her and Salzedo took place between 1945-1950 while Beckman was at Oberlin.
