Biographical / Historical

Francis Tursi was a chamber musician who studied viola and composition at the Curtis Institute of Music, graduating in 1946. He continued his composition studies with Bernard Rogers and Howard Hanson, receiving additional degrees from the Eastman School at the University of Rochester. In 1949 Tursi joined the faculty of the Eastman School of Music as professor of viola, teaching there until his retirement.
