Biography



Born in London to parents of Polish descent, Stokowski was a leading conductor of the early to mid 20th century. During his tenure with the Philadelphia Orchestra, he assisted Mary Louise Curtis in conceptualizing the Curtis Institute of Music. Stokowski served on the Curtis faculty from 1924-1927, conducting the orchestra.
