Biography
Gilbert was born in Massachusetts and attended Curtis from 1926-1933 studying the violin under Carl Flesch and Leopold Auer as well as Chamber Music under Louis Bailly. He earned a diploma and bachelor degree in violin in 1933 with both awarded to him in the first commencement ceremony in 1934. He went on to work with The New York Times until his young death at the age of 34.

Abstract
This collection consists of a hardbound scrapbook of music reviews that Gama Gilbert (1906-1940) wrote for the New York Times, and a celebratory copy of the score of Beethoven's op. 18 string quartets (Peters edition).
