Curtis Institute of Music - alumni

The Audio and Video collection contains recordings of both internally and externally produced media related to the institution, its alumni, and faculty. Materials include Curtis events, faculty and alumni projects, oral histories, recordings of Curtis outreach performances, press materials, and internally-conducted meetings. Additionally, the AV collection holds preservation masters of born-digital student recitals. Student performances may be restricted as per privacy and copyright laws.

The collection covers aspects of student life at Curtis as well as commemorative and alumni events, alumni oral histories, personal recordings, and memorabilia

The collection primarily spans Shaffer's time as a student at the Curtis Institute of Music through her international career as the first female flute soloist. Included are personal diaries, correspondence, photographs, performance reviews, and scrapbooks compiled by Shaffer. It also contains items related to William Kincaid, Shaffer's teacher at Curtis and lifelong friend.

This collection consists of a hardbound scrapbook of music reviews that Gama Gilbert (1906-1940) wrote for the New York Times, and a celebratory copy of the score of Beethoven's op. 18 string quartets (Peters edition).
